NCD prohibits burial at old cemetery

DIMAPUR, February 10 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has prohibited burials at old Naga cemetery, Lake View, Khermahal Colony due to space constraints and informed the general public that with effect from February 15, 2021 all burials will take place at new Naga cemetery, Zani village.

In a press release, NCD vice president (admn) Etsungmomo Kikon stated that the Council in a general meeting held on January 27, 2021 resolved to open the new Naga cemetery for general public. Therefore, general public have been requested to cooperate accordingly and directed to follow the same for burials.

He informed that earlier, the new Naga cemetery was opened only for the burial of COVID-19 cases as the area was under construction. But since the work has been completed, the council decided to allow all burials at the new Naga cemetery.

NCD further requested the public to abide by and maintain the rules the regulations laid down for uniform burial and construction of tomb at the new Naga cemetery.

The new Naga cemetery at Zani village was inaugurated on July 1, 2020 by Minister of Agriculture and Cooperation, G Kaito Aye.
