NCD Vigilance Committee raises concern on ‘prevailing issues’

Urges law enforcing authority to lodge suo moto 
case against perpetrators of fuel adulteration 

Dimapur, April 27 (MExN): An executive meeting of the Naga Council Dimapur, Vigilance Committee was held on April 26 to deliberate on the prevailing issues pertaining to the state of Nagaland in general and Dimapur district in particular. A press release in this regard was issued by the Committee’s Co-convenor Hotoshe Sumi and Secretary Sachu Pojar on Tuesday.

“The committee is displeased to learn about the current incident where fuel adulteration was openly operating at Ghorapatti, Dimapur,” the release stated, appealing to the law enforcing authority to lodge suo moto case against all perpetrators involved in the crime. Stating that no stone should be left unturned in the investigation, the Committee also requested any individual(s) having knowledge about the involvement of any association, union, authority or any person in the said fuel adulteration racket to “bring the party involved to light.”

“The Committee further appeals the All Nagaland Petroleum Dealer Union to consider this matter seriously and provide a helping hand to the law enforcement authority so as to apprehend the offenders involved at the earliest,” the release stated.

In the press release, the Committee also appealed to the state government to check the menace of multiple illegal taxation and exorbitant taxes levied at the entry of Dimapur Check gates by different organisations and authorities. It said that the common people are often at the receiving end of such illegal and unauthorised activities, and as such, appealed to the concerned authority manning the check gate to issue challan or receipt and display detailed chart fee fixed by the government at the counter for transparency.

Further, it also requested the state government and the concerned contractors to complete the construction works in respect of public properties in the allotted time for convenience of all and for the interest of public welfare. “The committee further entreat the state government to comprehend the uneven situations faced by the government employees due to non-release of salaries and pending bills,” the release stated.
