NCP Nagaland mourn Sangma’s demise

Kohima, March 6 (MExN): Nagaland state unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) expressed its profound sorrow and grief at the sudden passing away of the former chief minister of Meghalaya, union minister, speaker of Lok Sabha and founding member of NCP Purno Agitok Sangma on March 4 in New Delhi.   In a condolence message, NCP Nagaland unit president Povotso Lohe and state secretary Vathungo Odyuo described late Sangma as a shrewd politician, a great orator and statesman, a lawyer and journalist as well with exemplary qualities.   It stated that he lived a very simple and humble life despite the fact that he was a highly learned man with extra ordinary caliber who has sacrificed all his life for the cause of the tribals and the down trodden people in the country as a whole and the north-east India in particular.  

NCP Nagaland unit said in his death, the north east region has been made a “poorer place” in the political arena and added that the vacuum caused by his death shall be difficult to fill for all times to come.   Further, the unit has conveyed its deepest condolences to all the near and dear ones of the bereaved family and prayed that Almighty God may grant them the strength and solace to overcome this irreparable loss. It has also prayed for departed soul to rest in eternal peace.   BJP Nagaland   The BJP Nagaland has condoled the  sad demise of Purno Agitok Sangma, a prominent and towering political personality from North East.   Describing Late Sangma as a true spokesman and voice of the Northeast, the BJP State President Visasolie Lhoungu in a condolence message  said, “In his death, not only Meghalaya, but the nation and particularly the entire North East has lost a leader who bridged the gaps between the region and different parts of the country in his several capacities as a national leader”   The BJP Nagaland prays for the departed soul and his grieving family members, it added.
