Dimapur, April 21(MExN): The Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has written to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, TR Zeliang demanding for restriction against Gayatri Projects to execute the four-laning of Dimapur – Kohima road and directed all the Naga Contractors “not co-operate or give any suggestion to the Company” till the firm complete the 4 projects under SARDP Phase-1 in Nagaland.
The firm was recently awarded the project amounting to Rs. 340 crores despite NCSU’s “repeated appeal and petition” to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) and Union Ministry MoRTH against dissatisfaction over Maytas & Gayatri (JV) works in Nagaland.
"This is in view of public grievances and discontentment against Maytas & Gayatri (JV) works in Nagaland," stated the NCSU in its representation to CM released to media here by its Secretary, Imsünok Jamir and Vice-President, K.L Setuo Rutsa.
Further highlighting that special accelerated road development Programme (SARDP) Project for Construction of two- laning of roads amounting to Rs. 132 crores under the Maytas & Gayatri (JV) has been “a total failure and remain abandoned till date,” the NCSU said decrying the awarding the four-lane project to same entity.
The 4 projects in question include construction of two laning road of Longleng – Changtongya road; Mon – Tamlu-Merangkong road, Phek – Pfütsero road, and Zunheboto – Chakhabama road covering over 332 Kms and regarded as biggest road Project since the inception of our State but remains incomplete, it added.
In this regard, the NCSU had earlier submitted a representation to Nitin Gadkari Union Minister MoRTH to direct the Maytas & Gayatri, to complete the SARDP Project Phase – I in Nagaland and restrain the company from taking up any new Project till its completion, NCSU further pointed out.
Implying that that it’s repeated “appeal and petition” has not elicited any positive response to concerned authority in the light of the another work order to Gayatri for Construction of 4 laning of road Dimapur – Kohima, the NCSU asserted that, even if Gayatri Project went ahead with the new project they would be “doing so at their own risk.”
The NCSU will not be held responsible for any unwanted situation arising related in the issue, it further cautioned.
