Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union (NCSU) has written to the Chief Secretary telling him to give clear direction and instruction to all Head of Departments to honour the government order and allot all contract and supply works to NCSU registered members only besides issuing a freah order so that it will be more appropriate to implement the present situation. The NCSU cautioned that non compliance with the government order and violation by any officials/head of departments and government employees will be doing so at his/her risk if such irregularities are detected by the NCSU members. It warned that the NCSU will take legal action against those who are responsible.
The NCSU in a letter to the Chief Secretary demanded for the strict implementation of the government standing order for awarding government contract and supply works to NCSU registered members only. The letter signed by President Pele Khezhie and General Secretary John Kath expressed displeasure towards many of the government officers not honouring the government standing order by allotting contract and supply works to non-registered and non local contractors and suppliers.
While affirming that the NCSU was there to work hand in hand with the government and all head of department for departmental works, it however pointed out that this must be in strict compliance with the government standing order and that the NCSU would b eventually compelled to seek legal redressal against all erring government officials who otherwise misconstrue or misuse proper guidelines of the government order. The NCSU stated that in spite of the laid down service rules and also government memorandum that all contract and supply works are to be allotted to NCSU registered members only, it was observed that many government officials are issuing and doing contract and supply works in collaboration with unregistered businessman and firm for the profits. It observed that “specific professions should be maintained for better advancement of the State”.
