The 17th Chizami Assembly Constituency of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) today accorded welcome to several party leaders from LJP for declaring their resignation from their respective post and joining the NDPP party.

In a welcoming programme organised by NDPP 17th Chizami A/C at Chizami in Phek district, Nagaland Power & Parliamentary Affairs Minister KG Kenye thanked them for joining the NDPP to strengthen his leadership and the NDPP central leaders under the presidentship of Chingwang Konyak and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

Kenye, who represents 17th Chizami A/C, said that their decision in joining the NDPP fold was purely on their own will to support the NDPP and the party has not played any political gimmick to lure them. “We never persuaded them; it was their own resolve to support our leadership,” he said. Welcoming them to NDPP, he asked them to maintain integrity and become ambassador for peace and Naga unity.

Kenye emphasized the importance of unity among the people and political entities to address lingering issues in the state.

Kenye expressed concern over increasing political fragmentation despite shared goals and aspirations. “Instead of coming together stronger and more united, we are fragmented into so many pieces, which is not good for us at all,” Kenye regretted.

Reflecting on the political landscape, Kenye noted that political discussions have become more constructive as the younger, educated generation actively engages in relevant societal issues.

The Minister called upon the party leaders and supporters to set an example of unity and responsible politics for others to follow.

He emphasized the importance of a home-grown, strong regional party, stressing the need for political stability and continuity. “We should nurture and grow our own home-grown party... a strong regional party is what we need today,” Kenye stated.

Earlier, NDPP 17th Chizami A/C president Raruveyi Swuro delivered welcome address. Zashesa Lohe, president, LJP (RV) 17th Chizami AC, Ngonyi Krocha, vice president LJP (RV) 17th Chizami AC, Zhopayi Nakro, general secretary CEB NDPP, Chubutse Naro, vice president NDPP Phek region and several others also spoke at the programme. The programme was chaired by Ciisayi Lohe, Secretary CEB NDPP.
