NDPP committed to continued alliance with BJP

DIMAPUR, MAY 2 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has reiterated its commitment to continue alliance with the BJP and “uphold the spirit of the alliance and adhere to our collective commitments as we did in the election of the Rajya Sabha seat recently.”

In a press release, the NDPP also welcomed the 21 legislators led by former Chief Minister, TR Zeliang who joined the NDPP on April 29 “to support the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio.”

“Their joining the NDPP will furth er enhance the stability of the government and at the same time facilitate the growth and development of the State. The added increase in the number of legislators as well as the increase in the party rank and file will re-strengthen the leaderships of the Chief Minister and the President Chingwang Konyak,” the party said.

Meanwhile, the NDPP said that it remains unwavering in their pre-poll commitments and alliance with the BJP and assured the people that the “recent development does not in any way undermine our continued alliance, but in fact, strengthens the alliance, providing more stability to our government.”

“We also continue to remain steadfast in our role as facilitators to the Indo-Naga talks and with the recent positive development; we believe that our role has been further strengthened,” the NDPP claimed.

The NDPP further welcomed the “big hearted statement of the NPF to continue in the UDA coalition.” It said that the State Government has included the NPF in the allocation of Chairpersons of District Planning and Development Boards and looks forward to working in close coordination in “upholding regional concerns in a collective manner.”

The NDPP assured that it would work with united understanding with all stakeholders of the UDA “in the greater interest of the people and in our collective aspiration to achieve genuine peace and all round development.”

“As we march on ahead with our commitment of meritocracy, transparency, accountability and good governance, our doors continue to remain open, welcoming anyone who wants to join us under the banner of ‘Facta non Verba; Deeds not Words,’” the NDPP said.
