NDPP, NPF doing everything for BJP in Nagaland, alleges NPCC

Kohima, February 8 (MExN): With the tenure of Nagaland’s lone Member of Parliament (MP) to Rajya Sabha, KG Kenye ending on April 2, 2022, the NPCC today said that BJP appears to be “persuading for the seat” and expressed sadness over the development.

Soon schedule of election for RS MP will be notified but it is “sad to imagine a saffron MP from Nagaland standing before Parliament, exhibiting representation of a 98% Christian population,” stated K Therie, the President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) in a press release.

He further alleged that the “NDPP and NPF have been doing everything for RSS-BJP in disguise of Regional Political Party for the past 19 years.”

Both MPs of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Naga People’s Front (NPF) also voted for the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, Therie further pointed out to justify the allegation.

The Lok Sabha MP cleared his position that it was his party’s direction and while NPF suspended Kenye MP for voting in favour for CAA, but later the party decided to join BJP whose Government brought the CAA Bill, it added.

“They (NDPP & NPF) fear BJP will use NIA and CBI against them for their own crimes,” the NPCC President further maintained.

“The Regional Political Parties' actions are betrayal of political ethics and betrayal of own religion and faith,” he stated, further asserting that “electing a saffron RS MP from Nagaland State Assembly will be the final death-blow to the image and standing of the people of Nagaland, specially the Church.”
