Sikkim and Meghalaya draw 1-1

 

KOHIMA, JANUARY 23 (MExN): Mizoram went comfortably past Assam beating them 4-0 in their second round of matches at the NE Dr T Ao Trophy at the IG Stadium, Kohima on January 23. 


F Lalrinpui opened the scoring in the 16th minute for Mizoram’s lead. Vanlalthanga doubled the lead in the 77th minute, quickly followed by another goal from Lalchungnunga Chhangte in the 80th minute. MS Dawngliana sealed Mizoram’s emphatic victory by scoring their fourth goal 3 minutes into extra time. 


The other Group B match of the day saw Sikkim and Meghalaya play out a 1- 1 draw. Meghalaya took the lead first through Atlanson Kharmaw in the 77th minute. As they looked to be headed towards a narrow victory, Sikkim’s Dawa Sherpa equalized in 93rd minute to help his team draw the match.  


With today’s victory, Mizoram now top their group with 6 points, followed by Sikkim with four points. Meghalaya are stuck at 1 point while Assam is yet to register a win.
