Chümoukedima, September 24 (MExN): Meghalaya and Sikkim secured emphatic victories against their opponents on the second day of the ongoing 2nd NECDC (North-East Cricket Development Council) Senior Men’s Interstate Friendship Tournament 2024 on September 24.
In the first match at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Meghalaya triumphed over Arunachal Pradesh by 111 runs. Batting first, Meghalaya posted a formidable total of 312 runs in 46.2 overs, with Wallambok Nongkhlaw leading the charge, scoring 105 off 110 balls.
In response, Arunachal Pradesh managed only 201 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs, succumbing to defeat by 111 runs. Nongkhlaw was named Player of the Match for his brilliant innings.
Meanwhile, Sikkim overwhelmed Mizoram by an even larger margin of 158 runs in the second match at Sovima Cricket Ground. Initially, Sikkim found themselves in a precarious position, posting a modest total of 228 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs.
However, Ankur Malik stole the spotlight with a stunning performance, claiming 6 wickets for just 18 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award.
