Neiba apprises BRO Director General on negligence of NH-29

Kohima, April 15 (MExN): National Highway-29 (earlier NH 150), connecting the State capital Kohima to Jessami via Pfutsero to Manipur state, which has been neglected for many years without maintenance or repair by the authority has been brought to the notice of Director General (DG), BRO Head Office, New Delhi by Neiba Kronu, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning & Co-ordination, Evaluation, Monitoring and Taxes.   National Highway-29 is the lifeline of Phek, Zunheboto and Kiphire districts of Nagaland.

  A press release issued by Thomas Thailu, Officer on Special Duty, Department of Planning & Co-ordination, New Delhi stated that Parliamentary Secretary Neiba Kronu apprised the DG, BRO of the problems faced by the local people of the districts concerned. Kronu also highlighted about negligence of the roads and Sidzu Bridge, which collapsed in 2007 and has not been constructed till date. The DG assured to instruct the BRO in Nagaland to start the work immediately and thereafter will visit the site in month of May 2016.  

Kronu has appealed to civil societies, villages and the other civic bodies to co-operate with the BROs during the construction of roads.  

The release stated that the DG, BRO, who assumed his office only in the month of January 2016, is an efficient, practical, and a person of dignity who is willing to bring road development in the country.
