Neiphiu Rio mourns Er. Akangmeren’s demise

Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Neiphiu Rio has expressed pain over the demise of Er. Akangmeren Ao in Kohima on September 6.

Late Akangmeren was retired Chief Engineer of PHE Department. “He gave the best years of his life towards government service and made significant contributions towards building up the department during some of the most difficult periods in our State's history. He was an energetic person who was always willing to make sacrifices for the welfare of the people. The State will remain indebted to him for his contributions and sacrifices,” Rio stated in a condolence message.

After his retirement, Rio said, Akangmeren continued to be actively involved in society through various initiatives. “His passing away will leave a void in our society especially to the Ao community, as we have lost an elderly personality, whose vast experience and knowledge was a source of guidance for all of us.”

Recollecting that late Akangmeren had been a close associate of him, Rio particularly remembered their badminton sessions. “...he was the source of laughter for all of us every time he was around,” Rio said.

The MP along with his family conveyed deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed to God to let the departed soul rest in peace.
