DIMAPUR, JULY 19 (MExN): North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) inducted new batch of MSW and BSW with an orientation program on July 18 at Peace Centre, NEISSR, Chümoukedima. The five days orientation programme consists of demonstration, other institutional academic programmes and street play trained by Kilangtemsu Imsong.
The comprehensive orientation program aimed to familiarize the newcomers with the institute’s academic, cultural and social environment providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to start their academic journey in NEISSR on a positive note, a press release issued by NEISSR desk informed.
Dr Fr C P Anto, NEISSR principal in his welcome note emphasized on the institute's commitment in providing an enriching and supportive educational experience, focusing on the three requisites to achieve one’s dream - setting a goal, focusing on knowledge accumulation and experiential learning skills. He also stressed that the entire course capacitate the students to address the contemporary social issues, find solutions and to resolve them through social analysis and techniques.
Rev Fr Lawrence Khing vice principal highlighted the best practices of NEISSR viz., sarvodaya, professional progressive circle, buddy system, remedial class, dual faculty etc., to attain the motto ‘Excel in Knowledge and Service.’ It in turn will bring out well-equipped professional social workers to meet the rampant job opportunity for the outgoing students as proved in the passed years, Khing stated.
Assistant professor Dr Toli H Kiba, enlightened the students with the culture of NEISSR in order to kick off the new academic year on a value based positive note. Ice breaking sessions, interactive session and group activities were cconducted to enablele the students to develop their competencies.
