Dimapur, August 8 (MExN): BSW V Semester NSS volunteers of the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) participated in a road repair and maintenance activity along the stretch leading to the college on August 7 as part of NSS Swachhata Pakhwada.
The activity was organised by the NSS Unit of NEISSR with the objective of promoting cleanliness, community participation, dignity of labour and social responsibility among students.
The volunteers cleared, levelled and repaired the road, improving uneven portions and de-clogging the drainage along the entrance stretch.
Working with traditional tools and equipment, the volunteers demonstrated teamwork and a sense of responsibility towards their institution and the surrounding community.
The activity provided the volunteers an opportunity to put into practice the core values of the National Service Scheme (NSS), particularly its motto, "Not Me But You".
The initiative also encouraged students to understand that community development requires active participation, cooperation and a willingness to contribute through service beyond classroom learning.
Through their participation, the volunteers demonstrated the role young people can play in creating cleaner, safer and more accessible community spaces.
The NSS Unit appreciated the enthusiastic participation and commitment of the BSW V Semester volunteers.
The programme was part of NEISSR's continuing efforts to nurture socially responsible and community-oriented professionals through experiential learning and service.
