Nepali women celebrate Pre Teej in Kohima

Hundreds of Nepali women today joined in celebrating Gorkha Sahitya Kala Sanstha (GSKS) organised Pre Teej or Daar at Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) Hall in Chandmari.  

On this day, all the family members especially the women, both married and unmarried, gather at one place in their finest outfits of red (called Saubhagya) and dance and sing devotional songs mixed with Nepali folk and Dohori songs.  

GSKS also held a grand feast for all the Nepali women called “Daar”, while also holding different entertainment and fun filled activities.  

GPPK President Santu Thapa extended greetings on the occasion while Co-convenor Teej organizing committee Ganga Thapa delivered the welcome address and Convenor Chandra Kumar Lama dwelled on the significance of Teej.  

Special numbers were presented by Binod Mothey and Karishma Baraily, while speech on behalf of the mothers was delivered by GSKS Patron Gyatri Devi and President Gorkha Mahila Samity Kohima Dhurpati Lama.  

GSKS is also all set to hold Bhasha Diwas on August 20 at the same venue from 1:00 pm onwards. All concerned Gorkhali/Nepali have been requested to join the celebration.
