
New Delhi, September 22 (MExN): Concerned students of North East India under the aegis of North East Students Forum (NESF) conducted a donation drive for the victims of flood in Assam and Nagaland on September 4 and 5 at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The event was coordinated by representatives from the two states. In a press note, the Convenors of North East Students Forum JNU and Nagaland Students JNU informed that “a large number of people irrespective of Ideology, Colour, Race, Tongue and Blood, people came forward to offer their aid.” The Nagaland Students “urge the Chief Minister and the concerned department to kindly take up preventive measures in order to mitigate disasters such as these in the future”. They further stated that “appropriate Environmental Impact Assessment must go hand in hand with developmental projects” and urge the State government for an accountable and transparent in the rebuilding process to ensure that the help reaches to those who it the most.
