New edition of horizon series cultural programme

The 2013-14 edition of ICCRs Horizon Series Cultural programme kicked off with a bang with a host of various artistes performing different genres like folk, indigenous and modern music at Soul Speak Studio Hall, Dimapur on May 10.

The show begun at 6.30 pm by Guru Bendang Jamir accompanied by Amenla. They sang a few Ao folk songs and Bendang explained and narrated each song to the audience. Livikha Swu, a Naga Idol 2010 finalist was the next to go upstage who presented two songs with one of them being a composition of Alobo Naga. Tzuza Imchen, a veteran artiste belted out 2 songs. Desire with Rose on lead vocals winded up the first part of the show with two songs. One of their fusion compositions with a combination of both Hindi and English had the crowd tapping along to their tunes.

The second part, open mic cum jam session, now a regular feature in the Horizon series programme with a motive to get the musicians to know each other and jam together followed right after. Sosangmeren, bassist of Suffering Soul was the first to go up to sing two songs playing the acoustic guitar. Arenla Imsong, vocalist of North East Artistes Network (NEAN) formed by Bendang, guitarist of the renown band Squadron presented a song. Renown and upcoming singers and musicians from different bands like Meren of Suffering Soul, Meren, ex guitarist of Abiogenesis, Temjen of Gentlemen & Slippers, Rovi, Moa & Tzuza played and jammed together for an hour.

Robust Network Cultural Secretary, Atangla Imchen has informed in a press release that Robust Network, the organizers in Dimapur states that the Horizon Series programme is held regularly in collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Government of India to showcase and create a platform for both upcoming as well as established artistes and interested artistes and bands may kindly send a brief profile along with contact details to robustnetwork@rediffmail.com or call mobile no 9436003009 to be considered for performance in the year long programme to be held in Dimapur.
