New GPS building in Mukalimi

Kohima, March 4 (MExN): The new building of Government Primary School (GPS) constructed through community mobilization in Mukalimi village under Pughoboto sub-division was inaugurated today by Dr Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.
While addressing the gathering during the inaugural programme, Rio appreciated the community leaders for taking up the responsibility to construct the classrooms for the students through community mobilization.
He said to let the user community own and manage government institutions is the real intent of the Nagaland Communitization of Public Institutions and Services Act 2002.
Rio also acknowledged that positive outcomes can be noticed where community actively participates. He expressed concern over the rural-urban population migration trend in search of better education for children and said that the department is working hard to provide required infrastructure to school such as drinking water facility, toilets, mid-day meals, library facilities and upgrade school infrastructure facilities to ensure quality education in all the government schools.
Rio said that there are numerous programmes and activities being introduced through the Samagra Shiksha by the Government of India to improve education and called on the village community leaders and teachers to take active parts for successful implementation of such programmes.
While highlighting various initiatives been introduced in the schools by the government, he said students’ enrolment in the school is vital to avail the benefits of the government programmes and activities as all the planning is based on UDISE data.
He encouraged the teachers and VEC team to continue to work together for the overall improvement of education in the village.
