New NASU office bearers elected

Kohima, March 28 (MExN): The three day Northern Angami Students’ Union (NASU) 46th Biennial General Conference which was held in Botsa concluded on March 28.

The new team of the NASU office bearers was elected with Aneizo Keditsu as President.

The valedictory session was graced by Teisovise Metha, NPS, commandant of the 4th NAP Thizama, Kohima as special guest. Senior leaders of the Union also attended the session as session guests.

While addressing the students, Metha urged the new student body to positively contribute their services for the good of the student community. 

Assuring that the state’s police department has been conducting recruitment process in a fair and just manner, he urged the students to compete   in competitive exams of the department if they have an interest in joining the police services.

He advised students intending to compete for public services to be self confident, be able to sacrifice, and to have determination and dedication. He encouraged those who have the will to serve in public services to be able make decisions and sacrifices for their dreams. 

He added that one will not progress if there are regrets in life and further encouraged the students to support one another and to lift each other up even in the days to come.

The result for the debate competition and the extempore competition which was held on Saturday was also declared on Sunday. Vizosienuo Shüya (Meriema), Aluonuo (Chüzuama), and Aphrenuo Miario (Phekerkriema) secured the first, second and third position respect.

In the extempore competition, Meteitoulie Talie (Rüsoma), Kekhriengunuo Vipfe ( Meriema), and Kevizekuo Kevin Phewhuo (Kohima Village) secured the first, second and third position respectively.

Lt Suolahie Memorial trophy
The Lt Suolahie volleyball memorial trophy was conducted on Saturday and Sunday. In the men’s volleyball category, Meriema Village Students’ Union clenched the trophy as winners, followed by Nerhema Village Students’ Union as runner up.

In the women Volleyball category, Seiyhama Village Students’ Union emerged as winners followed by Zhadima Students Union as runner-up.
