New passenger train between Guwahati and New Bongaigaon

Maligaon, September 24 (MExN): Union Minister for State of Railways & Textiles Darshana Jardosh flagged off a passenger train service between Guwahati and New Bongaigaon through a video link from the Northeast Frontier Railway Headquarters on Malegaon on Friday.

The Minister also held discussions with Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma about various issues connected with the development of railway infrastructure in the state and met Assam Govermor Prof Jagadish Mukhi to brief him about enhancement of railway connectivity for overall economic development of the state, the NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Guneet kaur informed in a press release.

The services of Train No 05803 New Bongaigaon – Guwahati daily passenger special resumed with effect from September 24 and will have eight general class coaches and two luggage-cum-guard vans. This service is expected to be greatly helpful for local commuters and boost the local economy of the people of the region, Kaur stated.

Minister Jardosh also reviewed various activities related to connectivity, operation and passenger amenities in the NFR Zone and NFR General Manager Anshul Gupta gave a presentation on the overall performance of Northeast Frontier Railway (Open line) and day to day functioning pertaining to operation of trains and development of passenger amenities in various states, the release stated. General Manager for NFR (Construction) Sunil Sharma along with senior railway officials from the construction organization also gave a presentation of the ongoing projects of Railway Construction in the Northeast.

The Minister also inaugurated a new Oxygen Generator Plant of 500 LPM capacity and laid foundation stone of a 40-bedded isolation ward at Central Hospital, Maligaon. The Oxygen Generator Plant will provide direct supply of oxygen to patients admitted in the wards of the railway hospital, the release stated.
