Mindful of the rising number of cases of COVID-19 in East Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi, the administration has issued new rules for individuals arriving from the two districts.
The new guidelines said that all persons travelling to East Garo Hills from the aforementioned districts must observe seven days of home isolation. In case they have any symptoms of COVID-19 they must report to the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).
In addition, anyone returning to East Garo Hills after availing medical treatment from any Shillong hospital must call the IDSP helpline and report to the Corona Care Centre in Williamnagar on their arrival for testing. They will also have to then observe 14 days of home quarantine.
The administration also cautioned the public to postpone or cancel any travel to East Khasi Hills or Ri-Bhoi unless absolutely necessary.
