Kohima, June 6 (MExN): The business community and consumers of Kohima at its first meeting in Kohima on May 30, 2013 established Kohima Town Traders Union (KTTU). And on June 6, it held its second meeting in Kohima where it adopted three resolutions.
The KTTU decided to “fully support” the Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT), Dimapur in their move against the excessive taxations. The KTTU also resolved that it cannot cooperate with the request for closure of shops in the state capital, if the request is made through the KCCI. Further, it decided that if there is to be a total closure, the KTTU will “only” abide by the directives of the apex local NGOs based in Kohima. “If not the KTTU would only be able to show our solidarity through partial bandh, taking into view that Kohima is the state capital with multitude of Nagas visiting it for works and other emergencies.”
The meeting was attended by TCP Gate Traders Union, Super Market Traders Union, Naga Hospital Kohima Traders Union, Paramedical Traders Union, PR Hill Traders Union, Highway Traders Union, Kohima District Petroleum Dealers Association, Pezieliesie Traders Union, High School Area Traders Union and Main Traders Town. The KTTU clarified that it does not encourage formation of various trade unions in Kohima. “It is for the general information of the citizens that the authoritarian functioning of the present KCCI executives and their un-mandated election, lack of audit report and in-difference to the difficulties faced by the traders for the past couple of years have compelled the ten Trade Unions to form Kohima Town Traders Union.”
