ENNG condemn Jan 22 attack on AR convoy DIMAPUR, JANUARY 24 (MExN): The Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) has condemned the attack carried out on an Assam Rifles convoy by the United Liberation Front of West Eastern South East Asia (UNLFW) on January 22, 2017. A press statement issued by Khaung Waung Mossang, Home Minister, ENNG alleged that the attack was carried out in order to disrupt the Naga traditional culture festival in Nam Pawng town which takes place every year in January.The ENNG stated that the firing incident disrupted the festive mood with Naga people coming to attend the festival facing communication problems due to blockade of the road by the Indian Army. It therefore cautioned that such "anti-social act" will not be tolerated by the people.     JIC on Wuzu firing incident cross examines witnesses DIMAPUR, JANUARY 24 (MExN): The Judicial Inquiry Commission (JIC) regarding the July 16, 2016 Wuzu firing incident undertook a trip to Meluri HQ on January 17, 2017 and cross examined individual witnesses at the DB’s Court on January 18, 19 and 20. A press note from the Secretary to the Judicial Inquiry Commission informed that the team cross examined 17 individuals from Wuzu and Phor villages. The inquiry team returned to Dimapur on January 21.     DMC voters asked to collect voter slip Dimapur, January 24 (MExN): All the voters of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) election who could not collect their voter slips from their respective polling stations on January 23 and 24 have been informed to collect their voter slips from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur on January 27 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. A press release from Elizabeth Ngully, Additional Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer, DMC informed that in case a voter is unable to come personally, the same can be collected by any of the adult family members or the head of the household. Any of the following documents may be used for authentication: Aadhaar card, ST/Indigenous certificate with photograph issued by the government, driving license, EPIC, government issued identity cards, bank pass book with photo, PAN card.     Excise Mobile Squad seize liquor Dimapur, January 24 (MExN): The Special Surveillance team of Excise Mobile Squad seized a consignment containing 630 bottles of assorted liquor on January 23 from the National Highway, Dimapur. In this connection, one accused was arrested and charged under relevant section of the NLTP Act 1989, informed a press release from Superintendent of Excise (MS), Katoho Sumi. The seized articles were deposited in the Excise Mobile Squad Malkhana, Dimapur.     NBA calls meeting Dimapur, January 24 (MExN): The Nagaland Bar Association (NBA) will hold a meeting on January 27, 12:00 pm at its office located at Deputy Commissioner’s office, Dimapur. The meeting has been called to discuss the proposed tour of the State in the month of February, 2017, informed a press release from V. Hukavi Zhimomi, General Secretary, NBA. All executive members have therefore been requested to attend the meeting positively.   Fist phase of IPPI to be launched on Jan 29 in Mkg Mokokchung, January 24 (DIPR): Mokokchung District Task Force Committee on Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) and National Deworming Day held a meeting on January 23 in the DC’s office here. The meeting informed that the 1st phase of IPPI is scheduled to be launched on January 29 in the district, where all the children between 0-5 years irrespective of previous polio status will be administered polio drops.
