Polio immunization in Dimapur Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): The first round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) will be held on January 29 in Dimapur district. The Chief Medical Officer of Dimapur has requested all parents to bring their children aged 0-5 years to the nearest polio booth in their locality for Oral Polio Vaccine (bOPV) from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. An appeal was also made to all concerned citizens to mobilize children to avail the polio drops. Fire burns down scrap godown, thatch houses Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): A fire burnt down a scrap godown and six thatch houses located around it on January 27 in Dimapur. The fire started from a kitchen at the scrap godown situated at 2 ½ Mile (NH 29) around 1:00 pm, informed a Dimapur Fire Department personnel. It took one and half hour to douse the fire with the help of three fire tenders. No casualty was reported in the incident and the property loss was ascertained to be not much. AR apprehend NSCN (IM) cadre Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): 41 Assam Rifles apprehended two persons along with one .22 mm pistol and 339 bottles of IMFL at Ward No 9, Medziphema Town. The apprehended individuals have been identified as Vizoto Angami (40) and Supi Chaya Angami (35), informed a press release from Assam Rifles. Vizoto Angami, according to the release, is an NSCN (IM) cadre. The apprehended individuals along with the recovered arms and liquor were handed over to Medziphema Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation. Diphupar ‘B’ Village Council 25th anniversary Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): Diphupar ‘B’ Village Council will celebrate its silver jubilee on January 28 at the village Local Ground with the theme ‘Unity and harmony’. Chotisuh Sazo, Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly will be the chief guest. The council has invited all the former village council members, VDB members, NWWS members, NYOD ‘B’ members, neighbouring villagers and all the village members to attend the celebration. Lecture on ‘Women Empowerment’ Kohima, January 27 (MExN): A lecture on ‘Women Empowerment’ was conducted by 3(NH) Bn Assam Rifles at Jotsoma Govt High School on January 24 with Capt Gurjeet Singh Malhi as the speaker. The lecture covered issues to improve the social, economic, political and legal status of women, equality for women and ways to develop sense of worthiness. An AR press release informed that the speaker said women were educated upon the rapid pace of economic development and increasing demand for educated female work force in all fields. Capt Gurjeet further noted that women have been playing an important role in economic field as entrepreneurs, managers and investors and proven to be the best multitask force.
