Gov appoints Imtikumzuk to take charge of Speaker’s duties Kohima, March 2 (DIPR): The Governor of Nagaland has appointed Imtikumzuk, Deputy Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) to take charge of the duties of the NLA Speaker with immediate effect till the new Speaker is elected.     One held with arms Wokha, March 2 (MExN): 28 Assam Rifles along with a police representative apprehended one civilian with illegal arms during a search operation conducted at Industrial Colony, Baghty Town under Wokha district on March 1. One Lee Enfield No 4 Mk-I .303 rifle, nine live rounds of .303 rifle, two fire cases of .303 rifle and five live cartridge of 12 Bore were recovered from the apprehended person identified as Mhonchumo Lotha, who was employed as caretaker of a rubber and tea plantation, according to a press release from Assam Rifles. The apprehended person along with the illegal arms and other recovered items was handed over to Bhandari Police Station on March 2, it added. An FIR against the individual has also been lodged at Bhandari Police Station.     ANHTU Kohima unit supports Hindi teachers’ demand for pending salary Kohima, March 2 (MExN): The All Nagaland Hindi Teachers’ Union (ANHTU), Kohima unit has extended its support to the decision made by the representatives of CSS Hindi teachers along with ANHTU central body on February 28 during their emergency meeting in Dimapur. A press statement from ANHTU Kohima unit president, Kekhrieneilie Tsikhano and info & publicity secretary, Nelson Yhokha stated that the unit stands with the 1379 CSS Hindi teachers in their demand for the nine long months’ pending salary. Questioning the education department how it expects the teachers to perform their duty when they are not being paid for almost a year, ANHTU Kohima unit requested the Directorate of School Education to address the matter and also requested the officers responsible to act on the issue at the earliest and release all the pending salaries.     NSCN (IM) Kyong Region remembers Khodao Yanthan Wokha, March 2 (MExN): In remembrance of the late Vice President of NSCN (IM), Khodao Yanthan on his 7th death anniversary, the Kyong Region authority of the NSCN (IM) held a function on March 1 in the office of the Central Administrative Officer (CAO). The function which was chaired by the Caretaker/CAO Chonbenthung Lotha started with an invocation prayer by the Region Chaplain Merio Kikon, followed by a minute’s silent prayer in Khodao’s memory. In a short speech highlighting the life history of late Khodao Yanthan, the Caretaker/CAO urged upon all the members present to emulate and preserve the legacy left behind by the visionary leader, stated a press release from P Renthungo Odyuo, Region Secretary, Kyong Region, NSCN (IM). Thereafter, a special prayer was also offered for the collective leadership and all the members of the NSCN (IM) and the Naga Peace accord. The function concluded with a benediction offered by Tatar Simon Yanthan.
