
AR apprehends NSCN (K) cadre
Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has claimed that it apprehended an NSCN (K) cadre from Thilixu village in Dimapur on August 23. According to a press release, the 32 AR along with police representative launched an operation based on specific information and apprehended the NSCN (K) cadre identified as Captain Akheto Lithsami, 42 years. The individual revealed that he was actively involved in procurement of arms and extortion activities in Dimapur and adjoining area, the AR release claimed. The apprehended individual was handed over to Diphupar Police Station for further investigation.
DoSE informs schools to hold quiz competitions
Kohima, August 25 (DIPR): The Directorate of School Education, in a circular, has informed that there will be Quiz and Painting competition to be organized in all the Schools within the month of August 2017 in Commemoration of 75 years since the Quit India Movement. Quiz competition may be for class 11 and 12 students and painting competition for class 6- 10 students. The best painting may be displayed in the School notice board/ publish in the school magazine. According to a Principal Director, Smita Sarangi IAS, authorities have been asked to document the programme conducted through photos.
INTACH holds India Heritage Quiz Competition
Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The Nagaland round of the INTACH India Heritage Quiz Competition for schools was conducted by Express Minds at the Maple Tree School, Dimapur on August 19. Naman Kumar Jain and Gaurav Aggarwal of the Delhi Public School, Dimapur emerged winners after beating fierce competitions from 12 other teams. They will represent the state in the regional round to be held in Guwahati. The winning team from the regional round will go on to participate at the national finals, which will be held in New Delhi. INTACH Nagaland Chapter Convener Sentila T Yanger in a press note congratulated the winner and also expressed gratitude to all participating schools as well as the Maple Tree for hosting the competition.
Dimapur district level science seminar held
Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The district level science seminar 2017 was held on august 21 at URBC Hall Kuda Village, Dimapur, on the topic ‘Swachh Bharat: Role of science & technology promises and challenges.’ the programme was chaired by LimayanglaTzudir, Headmistress. Invocation by Khetonisema headmistress, Introductory delivered by Sunepla Imti Senior HA, DEO. The two first prize won by Anushka Bhatterjee and Rachel Tzudir of Class-10 (St. Paul Hr Sec School). Training on Vermicompost production
Phek, August 25 (MExN): Vocational training on Vermicompost production was conducted by Dr. T Esther Longkumer, ACTO (Soil Science), KVK Phek, ICAR-NRC on Mithun at KVK, Porba from August 21 to 24. Lecture on different topics was delivered covering topics viz vermicompost production- importance and benefits of vermicomposting and vermiculture technology, different methods involved in making of vermicompost, application doses to crops and also as a source of income generation. A video show on vermicomposting, vermiculture practices and its application in different crops was shown to the participants. On the last day, participants visited the different types of vermicomposting units in the KVK farm. Deendayal Upadhaya’s birth centenary in Peren Peren, August 25 (MExN): BJP Peren district celebrated Pandit Deendayal Upadhaya’s birth centenary at Jalukie Town Hall on August 21 with Doodh Singh, Convenor of Rashtriya Prashikshan Project (training) as guest speaker. Singh presented the life story of Pandit Deendayal Upadhaya, his ideology, and belief to transform India into developed and independent country, stated a press release from Huzantadbo Meriam, president, BJP Peren. The guest speaker further asserted that the BJP will continue to follow his footsteps to build New India and India first. The meeting was attended by Makuran, Office Secretary, BJP Nagaland, district president, all Mandal and Morcha presidents along with the party workers.
Nagaland Pradesh Congress Seva Dal meeting held
Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Seva Dal held an executive meeting on August 18. The meeting appealed to all Seva Dal and party workers in all the respective districts to work hard and take responsibilities for the upcoming general election, stated a press release from Yongo Maipanghlu, Organising Secretary, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Seva Dal. Ongbou Chang appointed member of NSCPCR
Kohima, August 25 (DIPR): The Social Welfare Department in a notification dated 17th August, 2017 has informed that the Government of Nagaland has appointed M.C Ongbou Chang, resident of Burma Camp, Dimapur district as a Member of the Nagaland State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NSCPCR) with effect from the date of his assuming charge of office under the following terms & conditions: The Member concerned shall exercise powers & perform functions as prescribed under Sections 13 & 14 of the Act; The Member concerned shall hold office for a term of 3(three) years or Sixty years of Age whichever is earlier from the date on which he assume charge of office; The service conditions of the Member shall be regulated as prescribed in the Act.
Quarterly Medical Board for Dimapur district
Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dimapur has informed that the Quarterly Medical Board for confirmation of service, invalidation and commutation of pension for Grade III and IV staff under Dimapur district will be held on September 11 and 12 at 10:00 am in the office of the CMO, Dimapur.
Tobacco awareness at Yemhi Memorial College
Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): Yemhi Memorial College Dimapur organised a programme on tobacco awareness under the National Tobacco Control Programme on August 23 at the college Conference Hall. Medongunuo Pienyϋ, Social Worker and Dr. C. Tetseo, District Programme Officer, National Tobacco Control Programme were the resource persons. Addressing the Students Dr. C. Tetseo reminded the students that Tobacco is the biggest cause of preventable deaths in the world today and the youths are in majority to Tobacco addiction. He sensitized the students on Tobacco addiction, diseases caused by it and measures to be taken to curb this menace. He also encouraged the Principal to take the initiative and necessary measures in making the institution a Tobacco-free Campus. Booklets and fliers were distributed to all the students.
