AYO condemns killing of fishmonger Kohima, September 11 (MExN): The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has condemned the death of a trader, Pradeep Mahato, a fishmonger hailing from Chapra district of Bihar at the hands of some unidentified persons after an altercation in Kohima Town on September 8, 2017. “The law enforcing agency should book the culprits at the earliest and award befitting punishment as per the law of the land,” asserted a press release from Kekhrie Pfükha, general secretary, AYO.   Muslim Council Dimapur expels one Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) has expelled Samsul Hoque, a “self-styled Kobiraj”, who also allegedly performed “witchcraft” and “black magic”, in continuation of a community resolution of 2012. Samsul, a temporary resident of Oriental Colony, Dimapur and a permanent resident of Thuria Pahar village of Kokrajhar district of Assam, has been operating his activities from a house at Oriental Colony in partnership with a local woman for the last two years, stated a press release from A Rahman, Working President, MCD. Rahman has thanked the office of the Naga conclave for bringing the matter before the MCD. Meanwhile, the Muslim Council again requested all citizens of Dimapur not to entertain any “Kobiraj” and also appealed all landlords not to rent out their premises to such persons.   Tseminyu Village Council and constituent villages respond Tseminyu, September 11 (MExN): With regard to the news item ‘Tseminyu Union dissolved’ published on September 3, Tseminyu Village Council – “the mother village of the Tseminyu Union” – and its constituent villages, namely Gukhanyu Village Council, Phenda Village Council, and Ngvuphen Village Council have condemned the press release. A rejoinder from Er. Nrilo Khing, chairman, Tseminyu Village Council; Gwasinlo Kent, chairman, Ngvuphen Village Council; Solo Khing, chairman, Gukhanyu Village Council; Daniel Kent, chairman, Phenda Village Council alleged that Tseminyu Tsipwen Youth Organisation “does not exist in any form but a handicraft of some individuals for their own political benefit.” Further, the Tseminyu Village Council and its constituent village councils warned that it will take “strenuous action against any individual/group(s) defaming the century old body Tseminyu Union as per the customary law.”   Phek District VCC Union formed Phek, September 11 (MExN): The Village Council Chairmen (VCCs) of Phek district formed a body under the nomenclature ‘Phek District VCC Union’ in a meeting held on September 6 in Phek, which was attended by some forty VCCs. Stressing on the Art 371 of the Constitution of India, the Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Kovi Meyase briefed the house on the role and functions of the VCCs. The meeting deliberated on the need to have a common platform of the VCCs for better coordination in the district and the state at large. A team of office hearers for the tenure 2017-20 were elected with president Kewepelo Tsuhah, vice president Kuveduyi Rhakho, secretary Vivotso Domeh, joint secretary Vepozo Nyekha, and banker Kezuwelo Akami with four other executives to be nominated later.   Rio offers condolences Kohima, September 11 (MExN): Member of Parliament, Neiphiu Rio has expressed sadness over the demise of Tepuhopi Rolnu, a NPF CEC Member, on September 9 at his Jakhama residence after prolonged illness. “He was a good man with a noble soul and an ardent party worker. In his death, our party in particular and the society in general have lost a great leader, thus creating a vacuum which will be difficult to fill in,” Rio stated in a condolence message. Along with all NPF rank and file, he mourned the death and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.   TB Forum Mokokchung revamped Mokokchung, September 11 (MExN): Through the initiative of Project Axshya, the TB Forum Mokokchung was revamped on September 11 at Care and Support Society office, Mokokchung. The Forum was formed by 11 members representing ENPO, Sumi community, Gorkha community, Tenyimia community, Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, MMC, NMP+, Care and Support Society, Watsu Mungdang, and community volunteers, informed a press release received here. It was formed for the welfare of the TB patients; to streamline and strengthen the RNTCP system in the district; to mobilize available resources and schemes for the TB patients. During the meeting, the house selected Imchawati Kichu as president and Prabhat Rai as secretary of the Forum.   9 AR interact with village GBs Pfutsero, September 11 (MExN): 9 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized an interaction with GBs, Village Council Chairmen (VCC) and youth presidents of Pfutsero Town and villages under Pfutsero sub division on September 9. The interaction focused on liaison between the locals and security forces, development, education, employment and health related issues and harmony in Pfütsero region, said a press release from Assam Rifles. At the end, the Company Commander assured all possible help to the villages and urged them to approach the Assam Rifles without any hesitation. A total of 32 people, including GBs, VCC and youth presidents from 11 colonies of Pfütsero Town, Pfutseromi, Tsupfume, and Lesumi villages attended the said meeting.
