KSUD condemns ITC Dan firing   Dimapur, September 16 (MExN):The Khiamniungan Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD) has condemned the September 11 firing incident between AR and NSCN (K) at ITC Dan Pangsha under Noklak sub-division. The union expressed dismay over the incident stating it not only created tension upon the public but also disturbed the students’ community in their academics. “Why not (bring) progressive developments instead of making it a battlefield?” stated a press release from KSUD president, P. Shingnya and assistant general secretary, Puche. ITC, it said, “is an International Trade Centre not a War Zone which connects the two countries and a centre of attraction between the two countries to serve as, exchanging of socio cultural heritage.” Nevertheless, being divided by the imaginary line, the Khiamniungans dwell in both countries with one administrative umbrella under Khiamniungan Tribal Council, it added. The union asked the two parties to refrain from such incidents in the near future.   78th CRPF participate in Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign Kohima, September 16 (MExN): For the promotion of Swachhata Hi Sewa (SHS) campaign, which was launched by the Government of India on September 15 to be continued till October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti), and to achieve clean India, 78th Bn CRPF at Zubza, Kohima organized various cleanliness activities under the leadership of Neeraj Yadav, commandant on September 15. The Sechu Zubza roadsides and surrounding areas were cleaned, overgrown grasses were cut, and after proper cleaning of drains, bleaching powder was sprayed, stated a press release received here. Further, fogging was also done in Zubza village. The commandant briefed the officers and men regarding Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign.   ENLU mourns Kohima, September 16 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) has expressed grief and pain over the demise of late Yeangphong Konyak on September 12 in Kohima. The ENLU members conveyed deepest condolence to the wife and children of the former minister. A condolence message from chairperson of ENLU, Noke Wangnao further said that Yeangphong was a prominent public figure of the State, particularly Eastern Nagaland. “His active association and involvement in different capacities with various organizations and NGOs even prior to entering politics, simply indicate his selfless service towards his tribe and the people of the state,” it stated. “Indeed, the immense service of Yeangphong Konyak towards the welfare of the people of the Konyak community and the Nagas in general is vastly acknowledged,” the union added.
