Lions Club Dimapur holds free eye camp Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): A two-day Free Eye Camp was organized by Lions Club of Dimapur in association with Jorhat Lions Eye Hospital. A total of 719 patients were screened during the two-day camp out of which 179 have been recommended for IOL cataract surgery. Those recommended for IOL Surgery will be sent to Jorhat Eye Hospital in a phased manner, the club informed in a press release. 9th IR organises concert Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): With the aim to encourage the 1500 recruiting jawans to adopt hobbies, utilize their talents, and keep them away from indulging in redundant activities, the 9th IR Battalion, also known as ‘The Daring Ninth,’ organised a concert at NAP ground, Police Hq., Chumukedima, Dimapur, on Saturday, September 16. ADG (Law & Order), Akheto Sema, who graced the event, advised the recruiting jawans to give serious interest in their career and also to carry out their assigned duties with sincerity. The band led by the 9th IR Commandant, C James Kinghen, Deputy Commandant as drummer, Assistant Commandant, Lanu Aier as guitarist, ADIS Rigamling as vocal, Supong as guitarist and vocalist and Baseng as guitarist, presented songs to encourage the jawans. The event also saw various bands, soloist and other entertainment items. The concert was attended by dignitaries, personnel and families and neighbouring residents. AHSS conduct awareness prog on AIDS & tobacco Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): Assisi Hr. Sec. School (AHSS), Dimapur under the banner of the Science Club and the guidance of Principal, Sr. Benny Fernandes conducted an awareness programme on AIDS and tobacco. The resource person Dr. Lolen, a medical practitioner highlighted on origin of AIDS and its prevention. He said that the only way of prevention is through awareness and education and encouraged the students to spread awareness about AIDS. He also made the students aware of the harmful effects of consuming tobacco. Later, he clarified doubts and queries raised by the students. NPF Consultative Meeting in Kohima Kohima, September 17 (MExN): President of the Naga People’s Front, Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu has called for a Consultative Meeting of the Central Office Bearers, Central Executive Council members, office bearers of all Frontal Organisations including Divisional Units of the party on September 20, 11:00 am at the Party Central Headquarters in Kohima.
