Guv summons 19th session of NLA
Kohima, November 28 (DIPR): The Governor of Nagaland has summoned the Nineteenth Session of the Twelfth Nagaland Legislative Assembly to meet at 9:30 am on December 14 onwards in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Hall, Kohima.

Zunheboto, November 28 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Zunheboto, Tridibesh Roy, IAS, has informed that control room for election has been set in the district for election purpose. The electorate and all the stakeholders with complaints and grievances under Zunheboto district are asked to contact 9615315612 or 8575348478 between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm before the election is announced and the control room will be operational round the clock after the announcement of election.
SAYO Silver Jubilee postponed
Kohima, November 28 (MExN): The Silver Jubilee celebration of the Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) which was scheduled to be held on December 9 has been postponed to December 13 due to unavoidable circumstances. A press release from SAYO in this regard asked well wishers, units, elders, members and regions to kindly bear with the inconvenience and join the SAYO on December 13 for its 25 years celebration.
Friendship Treaty turns golden
Kohima, November 28 (MExN): The 50th anniversary of the historic “Friendship Treaty” between Tuophema and Tesophenyu is all set to be held on November 30 both at Tesophenyu and Tuophema. A monolith will be dedicated at Tesophenyu by Rev. Rüdilhou Rio on November 30 beginning at 8:00 am which will be followed by a short function. On the same day at 11:00 am, another monolith will be dedicated at Tuophema by Rev. Wachulo Jemu which will be followed by the main function. In the main function, CT Rengma will narrate the history of the Treaty and Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio is slated to be the main speaker.
UNDP calls on Nagas to come together
Dimapur, November 28 (MExN): The United Naga Democratic Party has urged Nagas to come together as one so that a joint petition to the Indian Government for an early solution can be made.“The UNDP feels that the general Naga public, civil societies, Tenyimia, ENPO, CNTC etc should have a joint convention of sort in order to come to a solid understanding and put up its resolutions to the Indian government for an early solution,” a statement from its President N. Hotongse Sangtam read. The party suggested that such a convention be held in Mokokchung. Besides being the district where Rev. Dr. EW Clark conceived Christianity, the location is also best suited for all to come together without much inconvenience, the UNDP stated.
Nagaland marks Ambedkar’s 127th birth anniversary
Kohima, November 28 (DIPR): Nagaland commemorated the 127th birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar on November 27 at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Conference Hall. This year as Dr. Ambedkar’s birthday (November 26), which is also Constitution day, falls on Sunday, the state government held the programme on November 27. The programme was chaired by Chief Secretary, Pankaj Kumar, IAS. The Chief Secretary led in reading out the Preamble to the Constitution of India. Nagaland also observed Quami Ekta week (National Integration Week) from November 19 to 25. As November 25, being State holiday, the state observed the day on November 27 where the pledge was also administered by the Chief Secretary. The pledge taking ceremony of National Integration coincided with the birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar and the Constitution day was held in a befitting manner.
BJP Zbto condoles
Zunheboto, November 28 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party Zunheboto has extended condolences over the demise of Kiyelho Kinimi. Late Kiyelho Kinimi from Akuluto constituency was a prominent public leader, educationist and a onetime PRO of Nagaland University at Lumami, a message from the BJP Zunheboto stated while adding that his demise is a great loss to the Sumis in general and Akuluto area in particular.
HCBAK elects new team
Kohima, November 28 (MExN): The High Court Bar Association Kohima in its general body meeting held on November 27 last has elected its new team of office bearers for the tenure 2017-2019. The new team will be led by Ashipri Zho as President, Nchum Mozhui and Imti Longjem as vice presidents, Kekhriengulie Theiinuo as general secretary, Joshua Sheqi as joint secretary, Limawapang Longkumer as finance secretary, and Seyiekuonuo Mere as treasurer. The executive committee members include: R. Iralu, CT. Jamir, Kakheto Sema and Taka Masa.
