Survival Nagaland questions NSCN (IM)

Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): Survival Nagaland has sought clarification from the NSCN (IM) over the arrest of Raja Peyu Abdul Hasim by Assam Rifles in Dimapur on December 5. It demanded to know how a non-Naga can be appointed as a Raja Peyu in the Nagas fight for freedom and “what special patriotism does he serve in NSCN (IM).” A press release from Media Cell of Survival Nagaland also appealed to NSCN (IM) to clarify on its earlier press release regarding arrest of two non-Naga tax collectors.  

VHSNC Mon training to conclude on Dec 12

Mon, December 11 (MExN): The training of Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee (VHSNC) organised by District Health Society, Mon, which started on December 4 will continue till December 12. The training focuses on community participation, need for VHSNCs, formation of VHSNCs, activities & outcomes of VHSNCs and Annual Village Health Plan.  

Arms license holders in Mon, Phek informed

Phek, December 11 (MExN): In view of the forthcoming general assembly elections scheduled in the early part of 2018, all arms license holders under Mon and Phek districts have been directed to produce their arms license for verification at the nearest Police Stations as per the address given in the license on or before December 23. Failure to produce the license for verification within the stipulated time will result in cancellation of license(s) as per appropriate section of law, stated notifications from the Deputy Commissioners & District Election Officers of Mon and Phek respectively.  

NPPA condemns abduction, harassment

Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): The Nagaland Physical Planners’ Association (NPPA) and officers of the Urban Development, Nagaland have condemned the abduction and harassment of one of its members, Imtilepden Pongner, Secretary, Development Authority of Nagaland by unknown miscreants on the night of December 3 “without any rhyme or reason”. A condemnation note from NPP president, S Takatuba Aier stated, “This kind of unwanted action is unbecoming and condemnable by all right thinking citizens of the State. The matter should be viewed seriously by the law enforcing authorities and the culprits should be arrested at the earliest and severe action should be taken as per the law.”  

Leo Club helps needy people

Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): Leo Club of Dimapur collected from its members items that they no longer use like blankets, shawls, jackets, sarees, children dresses etc and distributed them to needy people, mostly street dwellers of Shani Mandir area, Dimapur. The distribution was done on December 9.  

NAYO lottery postponed

Kohima, December 11 (MExN): Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) has informed its well wishers and contributors that the NAYO lottery which was earlier scheduled to be held on December 16 will be postponed to February 10, 2018. Regretting for the inconveniences caused, NAYO in a press release prayed for their continuous support.
