AR apprehend three with liquor

Dimapur, December 14 (MExN): Ghaspani Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) apprehended three persons along with a commercial truck (AS 19C-3941) carrying illegal liquor on December 13. The three identified as Basanta Singh, Sanatomba Laishran, both aged 35 years, and Irfan Khan, aged 21 years, were apprehended at a Mobile Vehicle Check Post set up at Kukidolong bridge, informed a press release from Assam Rifles. The liquor comprised of 1200 cases of Kingfisher Beer worth around Rs 25,20,000, it said. The apprehended persons along with the recoveries were handed over to Medziphema Police Station, Dimapur.  

EVM and VVPAT demonstration in Wokha

Wokha, December 14 (MExN): District Election Officer & Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon (IAS) has informed that awareness and demonstration on Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will be conducted in all the polling stations under Wokha from December 16 till January 2. Detailed schedule for the said campaign has already being prepared. In this regard, the DC has requested all Returning Officers (ROs), Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), and Sector Magistrate to strictly supervise and monitor for the smooth conduct of the awareness and demonstration in their respective polling stations.  

Unidentified man found dead

Dimapur, December 14 (MExN): An unidentified dead body of a non-Naga male aged around 45 years was found at Railway Bazaar, Dimapur on December 13. A press release from the Dimapur Police PRO informed that it found no injury marks during preliminary enquiry and added that it suspected the man to have died of illness. The deceased was later shifted to Civil Hospital Morgue for Post-Mortem Examination and identification. In this connection, the Dimapur Police have requested claimants of the dead body to contact the Officer-in-Charge of Sub-Urban Police Station.  

Social work at Middle Colony

Dimapur, December 14 (MExN): All the residents of Middle Colony (Purana Bazaar, Dimapur) have been informed that there will be a social work on December 16, 7:00 am onwards. A press release from the Middle Colony Council has therefore requested all residents to clean their respective sites/areas including road without fail. The Council members will supervise all the areas on the day, the release added.  

Printing & Stationery dept launches website

Kohima, December 14 (MExN): The Department of Printing and Stationery, Nagaland formally launched its official website on December 14. Official e-gazette and common forms will be available for download on the website. Director of the department, Wati L Imchen, who launched the website, urged to maintain the website well and keep it updated for easy access with factual figures and accuracy. NPP welcomes two from NPF

Dimapur, December 14 (MExN): The National People's Party (NPP) Nagaland State has welcomed two members who have resigned from Naga People's Front (NPF) Central and joined the party. The two new NPP members are Kheapon Thikhir, former vice-president, NPF Central and Lirimong Sangtam, former vice-president, Youth Wing, NPF Central. The NPP Nagaland State appreciated their faith in the “party's vision of being secular, democratic and 'tribal-centric',” according to a press release from NPP Nagaland State IPR secretary, Limanuksung Longkumer.  

2nd Lasumi Day

Phek, December 14 (MExN): The Lasumi Hoho is all set to hold 2nd Lasumi Day on December 23, 10:30 am at Ladekou (Lasumi village) under the theme ‘Prosperity through dignity.’ Kewekhape Therie, president, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee will be the main speaker. It is mandatory for all the Lasumi citizens to attend the programme, according to a press release.
