Pre-Christmas Carnival in Kohima today

Kohima, December 17 (MExN): Headquarters IGAR (North) is organizing a Pre-Christmas Carnival at its Garrison on December 18 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Carnival is open to all the people of Kohima without any entry fee. The carnival has a lot of activities for all the age groups, children, youngsters and old. The attraction of the carnival include Assam Rifles pavilion which include weapon display and documentaries, artifacts on the contribution of Nagas in WWII and other battles. An informative corner giving out details on joining Army/Assam Rifles through various entry schemes will also be showcased. There are a number of fun games for all age group including outdoor activities for children in the backdrop of live music. The traditional martial and display would also be integrated into the activities of the day.  

PACSU 14 General Conference

Phek, December 17 (MExN): The Phokhungri Area College Students’ Union (PACSU) has convened its 14th General Conference at Washelo Village from January 11 to 12. Tarachu Fithu, Deputy Director Urban Development Govt. of Nagaland will be Chief Guest on the occasion. The union has requested all the senior students, Unit representatives, Area Leaders, Village representative from the Councils and college students to attend the conference positively.  

PHN elects new team

Kohima, December 17 (MExN): Poumai Hoho Nagaland (PHN) has elected new office bearers for the tenure 2017 till 2020 during its general assembly held at Poumai Baptist Church Midland, Kohima on December 16. The new team will be headed by PH Shesou as President, RK Hraile as General Secretary, Mark Peshai as Finance Secretary, Ng. Shed as Vice President, Ng. Solomon Sha as Publicity and Information Secretary and Shem Kh as Jt. Secretary.  

AR recovers arms, ammo

Tuensang, December 17 (MExN): The Assam Rifles’ Tuensang Battalion conducted a search operation in Tankong, Tuensang district on December 17 and recovered one .22 mm Pistol with magazine and 25 rounds of live ammunition. The recovered items were handed over to Police Station, a defence press release informed.  

Army recruitment rally in Tuensang

Kohima, December 17 (MExN): Army recruitment rally exclusively for youths of Nagaland will be held in Tuensang from April 9 to 15, 2018 for enrollment of male candidates into the Indian Army. Vacancies are available for Soldier General Duty, Soldier Technical, Soldier Clerk/Store Keeper Technical/ Inventory Manager, according to a press release from Col C Konwer, PRO (Defence). Online registration on the website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in for the rally will be open from February 8 to 24, 2018. CRWA mourns

Kohima, December 17 (MExN): The Chozuba Range Wrestling Association (CRWA) has mourned the sudden demise of Zaleveyi Sapu, Deputy Ranger, Forest Department and Former Wrestler of Phuhgi village on December 16 last. The Association president Kukhoto Venyo noted the immense contribution of late Zaleveyi to the Association and added that his good deeds will stay ever fresh in CRWA diary. The Association also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the Almighty grant eternal peace to the departed soul.  

Two Nagas nominated for NE Person of the Year Award

Dimapur, December 17 (MExN): The only female Bollywood film producer from Nagaland, Rebecca Changkija Sema and model Opang Jamir have been nominated for North East Person of the Year by the NE8x Guwahati. According to reports, Changkija who has made 5 commercial Bollywood movies under the banner of 'Find Studioz Production' house in Mumbai has been nominated in the Business Category for promoting tourism and people of the North East. Her first movie 'The dark secrets of Tonhi' was successfully released in 2014 and is still running in some part of India. Recently she completed two more movies in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and she has led celebrities like Zeenat Aman, Rajpal Yadav, Mahima Chaudhary etc. during their visit to the North East. Jamir, meanwhile, was nominated in Talent Category for “creating impact and inspiration to the rising youths of the North East”.
