Liquor worth Rs. 41 lacs recovered

Dimapur, December 27 (MExN): The Assam Rifles have claimed that it recovered a huge cache of liquor from 7th Mile in Dimapur on December 23. According to a defence press release, the Medziphema battalion along with police representative of Chumukedima Police Station conducted a search operation based on specific information and recovered 1342 cases worth Rs. 41,50,000 (approx) of assorted liquor from a warehouse and a truck bearing registration AS-01 EC-9351. The recovered liquor along with the vehicle was handed over to Chumukedima Police Station for further investigation.  

PSU general session

Kohima, December 27 (MExN): The Phek Students’ Union (PSU) will hold its 59th general session cum cultural dance competition on December 29 and 30 at Phek village under the theme “Education for culture.” Minister for home Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu will grace the session as the guest speaker while Nukutulii Rhakho, under secretary, women resources department, Govt. of Nagaland will be the inaugural speaker. Nechochiyi Venuh, District & Session Judge will also exhort the gathering. Folk dance winner will be awarded with Late Hiivekhiiyi Keyho’s Memorial Trophy along with cash prize of Rs. 20,000.  

Priest Ordination on December 29

Kohima, December 27 (MExN): St. Francis De Sales Parish, Kohima Town will hold the Priestly Ordination of Deacon Mhasikholie Martin Swiho on December 29, 10:00 am at Local Ground, Kohima. The main celebrant will be Rev. James Thopil, Bishop of Kohima. Angami Catholic Union (ACU), SFS Parish Kohima will host the event.  

Suspected arms peddler held

Kohima, December 27 (MExN): The Chieswema battalion of Assam Rifles has claimed the arrest of a suspected arms peddler during a search operation in Kigwema village on December 22. A defence press release identified the suspect as one Vizeto Yano, 53 years, and claimed the recovery of two .22 pistols along with one magazine each. The suspect along with the recoveries was handed over to Police Station Khuzama.  

CPO general session cum Chakhesang Day

Kohima, December 27 (MExN): The Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) is all set to conduct its 36th general session cum 4th Chakhesang Day on January 10 next at Pfutsero town under the theme “Self introspection for a vibrant society.” Rev. Dr. V.K. Nuh will be the speaker of the session while MLA Neiba Kronu will share greetings. All legislators and former legislators, former CPO officials, members of CPO executive council, area/range presidents and colleagues, VCCs and members, pastors, GBs, VDB secretaries and members and colony chairmen are to compulsorily attend the session with not less than 10 members from each village. All the frontal organization presidents and colleagues, national workers, public leaders, church leaders, government officers and well wishers are also invited to attend the session.  

NSCN (IM) Kilonser held

Dimapur, December 27 (MExN): A Kilonser of the NSCN (IM) was arrested by the Assam Rifles on December 26 from Khusiabill village in Dimapur. The Kilonser, identified as RT Tsanglao, 68 years, was arrested along with one .22 mm rifle with telescopic sight and one 9 mm pistol along with one magazine each, two empty magazines of .22 mm pistol, 28 live rounds of different calibers, a defence press release stated. Tsanglao was later handed over to East Police Station.  

SPCCT Golden Jubilee underway

Tseminyu, December 27 (MExN): The Golden Jubilee celebration of St. Peter's Catholic Church Tesophenyu (SPCCT) got underway on Wednesday at the Local Ground Tesophenyu. The celebration will also be marked by the Priestly Ordination of Deacon Shayhunlo Stephen Kemp at the St. Peter's Catholic Church Tesophenyu. Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Nagaland, was the main celebrant during the Golden Jubilee celebrations cum Priestly Ordination while Elias T. Lotha, Transport Commissioner Govt. of Nagaland was the Special Guest at the inaugural. Er. Levi Rengma, Parliamentary Secretary PWD (Housing), Govt. of Nagaland will be the Guest of Honour on the concluding day on December 28.
