Kohima Police arrest one with liquor Kohima, March 9 (MExN): Kohima Police manning Peducha check gate recovered 18 cases of IMFL (MC Rum) from a Tata Mobile truck (white colour) bearing registration number NL-07A-4677 on March 7 around 8:35 pm. The alcohol was found concealed underneath sand, a press release from PRO, Kohima Police said. In this connection, one person identified as Chotsase Sangtam (29) was apprehended and taken into police custody on charge of illegal possession and transportation of banned IMFL. Meanwhile, a regular case vide Sechü (Zübza) P.S Case No. 004/2016 U/S 44 (a) (e) NLTP Act was registered against the accused who is remanded into police custody for conducting further investigation, the PRO added.  

  NCSU demands open tender in all contract works Kohima, March 9 (MExN): Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has demanded open tender in all contract works in view of the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare’s circular dated February 19, 2016 recommending that the system of tender on diet and washing should be done away with. In a letter to the Principal Director, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DH&FW), NCSU President Pele Kezhie and General Secretary John Kath stated that the circular is a violation of government standing order vide no. AAR-13/2/85 dated Kohima, the 13th December 1985, GAB-1/Com/43/86 Dt. Kohima dated the 30th June 86, Bud/8-7/95-96 dated Kohima the 4th Oct/85, which state that all contract work should be open tender and the contractors should be ID card holder of Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union. NCSU cautioned that failing to comply with the government standing order will invite legal action. It also asked the Principal Director to take immediate in the matter.     Public transport vehicles over 15 years to be phased out in Kohima Kohima, March 9 (DIPR): Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Kohima has adopted a decision to phase out all public transport vehicles beyond the age of 15 years from operation within Kohima Municipal jurisdiction, informed Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, RTA, Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor in a notification. Renewal of licenses shall be banned w.e.f. April 1, 2016 for the above mentioned category of vehicles inclusive of heavy/ medium/ light commercial vehicles. The notification was issued in the interest of public safety under the provisions of Sec 59 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.     Truckload of liquor seized Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): A load of assorted liquor was seized from a Pfütsero bound mini truck by personnel manning Excise Check Gate at Chumukedima on March 8 around 4:00 am. A press release received here informed that Zhoupa of Naga United Village, Dimapur admitted that the consignment belonged to him and pleaded guilty. Accordingly, a case was registered and the accused penalized as per the provision of the law, it added. According to a press release, one layer of bricks was meticulously and painstakingly placed on top of the consignment consisting 159.5 cases of liquor. Furthermore, cement bags and block board were placed on top of the brick to make it appear like transporting construction material, the release added.
