National Awards for Excellence in Journalism Kohima, August 3 (DIPR): The National Awards for Excellence in Journalism, which honours journalists/ photographers/ freelancers excelling in print journalism in various fields, will be given on November 16, 2016 coinciding with the Golden Jubilee celebration of Press Council of India in Delhi. Information regarding entries for the award is posted on the website of the Press Council of India www.presscouncil.nic.in. It may be mentioned that November 16 is observed as National Press Day by the Press Council of India, a statutory autonomous authority set up by an Act of Parliament to preserve the freedom of the press and maintain its high standards.     GPRN/NSCN informs Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has informed all concerned that there will be mass social work at the Council Headquarters, Khehoi, on Friday, August 5. All the HoDs and secretariat staff are therefore informed to attend the said event without fail, a press release Lhokuto Chishi, Home secretary, GPRN/NSCN informed.     Smoke Free Dimapur: DC asks to comply with Sec 4 of COTPA, 2003 Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): In view of the launching of Smoke Free Dimapur initiative, the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of District Level Coordination Committee, Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, has informed all stakeholders such as government offices, banks, private bus stations, hotels/restaurants and other public places to immediately comply with the provision of Section 4 of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003. Compliance with Section 4 of COTPA, 2003 includes display of mandatory signboard and signage and ban of smoking in all designated public places. As part of the campaign, the DC said in a press release, the District Anti Tobacco squad will carry out regular checking of the above mentioned places from the second week of August, 2016. Non-compliance with the order will attract penalty according to the provision of the law, the release stated.     Zunheboto district candidates of PMEGP informed Zunheboto, August 3 (MExN): All the interested candidates of PMEGP during 2016-2017 under Zunheboto district are informed that new system of online application has been introduced. In view of the new guidelines, applicants of both DIC and NKVIB are directed to consult DIC Zunheboto during office hour before filling up the form online.     NBSE to organise leadership skills for school management Kohima, August 3 (DIPR): The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) will organize a one-day seminar on “Leadership Skills for School Management” for the Principals of Higher Secondary institutions at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima on August 9 at 10:00 AM. Chief Secretary, Pankaj Kumar, IAS will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Commissioner & Secretary, F.P. Solo and Resource Person, Barry O'Brien will also speak on the occasion.     Directorate of School Education informs Kohima, August 3 (MExN): The Additional Director (HOD), Directorate of School Education, has informed all concerned that prescribed application forms for financial assistance under the Scheme of Support for Professional Education of Children of School Teachers for the academic year 2013-14 are available in the the Directorate of School Education, Kohima. Those deserving candidates can apply by collecting the forms from the Directorate between August 8 to 10, the Additional Director (HOD) stated in a press release. Application forms should be submitted between August 12 to 20. Application received beyond this date will not be considered, the release added.  

  AR apprehend NSCN (IM) cadre Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): In a delayed report received here, a joint team of 37 Assam Rifles and 32 Assam Rifles apprehended a captain of NSCN (IM) along with arms, ammunition and “incriminating documents” on July 25 in Toulazuma area of Dimapur district. According to a press release from the AR, based on information, the suspected house was searched leading to apprehension of Captain Atu Pochury along with recovery of one .38 revolver, .38 ammunition and incriminating documents. On spot questioning, the cadre accepted his association with the NSCN (IM) and revealed his involvement in extortion activities from trucks plying on Golaghat Road, the AR release stated. The apprehended cadre and recovered items were handed over to Dimapur East Police Station, since his activities were in contravention to the Ceasefire Ground Rules, it added.     Naga New Year Festival in Myanmar Zingkaling Khamti, August 3 (MExN): The 2017 Naga New Year Festival will be celebrated in Lahe Town, headquarters of the Naga Self-Administered Government in Myanmar. A press release from Naga Literature and Culture (Central) and Council of Naga Affairs said that the Naga New Year Festival portrays genuine Naga cultural values. Naga Literature and Culture (Central) and Naga Self-Administered Government will collaborate together for the successful celebration of the festival, the release added.
