Kohima Police seize heroin Kohima, September 16 (MExN): Kohima Police personnel manning the Khuzama interstate check gate during routine checking and frisking of vehicles found around 12 grams of heroin from a Guwahati bound Manipur truck bearing registration number MN01-8631 on September 15 around 9:40 pm. The heroin was neatly wrapped in polythene and concealed inside a soap case, informed a press release from SDPO (South)/PRO, Kohima Police. In this connection, one person identified as Shaherzaman (54) of Bishnupur, Manipur was arrested and a regular case vide Khuzama P.S Case No. 0033/2016 U/S 21 (1)(b) NDPS Act was registered against him. In a statement given to the police, the accused said he had purchased 12 grams of heroin at Rs. 17,000/- from Imphal and was supposed to dispose it at Guwahati at Rs. 35,000/-.     IEM North East India women convention underway Medziphema, September 16 (MExN): The three-day 3rd Indian Evangelical Mission (IEM) North East India women convention under the theme ‘Strengthen to stretch out’ (Isaiah 54:2) began today hosted by Medziphema Town Ao Baptist Church (MTABC). Anungba Imsong, Pastor MTABC welcomed the congregation, C. Lumdemo Kikon, State Secretary, IEM Nagaland shared words of gratitude and introduction. Meanwhile, Lois Nhaizalhing Haokip, IEM Missionary shared his field experience, and Rev. Mang Yang Chang, Associate State Secretary, IEM Nagaland delivered the message. Altogether, 75 women delegates attended the first day of the convention and more are expected to turn up, stated a press release.     Seized ganja, IMFL destroyed in Peren Peren, September 16 (MExN): Huge quantities of seized ganja and IMFL were destroyed at New Deputy Commissioner Complex area, New Peren on September 16 in the presence of judicial officers, police, and administration of Peren district. The destructed items consisted of 538 kg of ganja and 82 cases of IMFL worth around Rs. 30 lakh, informed a press release from Superintendent of Police, Peren. The items were seized under various sections of NDPS and NLTP Act from Peren district. Representatives from Zeliangrong Mpui Organization, Jalukie Town Women Welfare Society, Peren Students’ Union, Zeliangrong Students’ Union, and Peren Town Youth Organization also witnessed the destruction process, the release added.
