Directive on conducting HBsAg & HCV testing, Hep-B vaccination drive Kohima, September 21 (MExN): The Principal Director of Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima has informed that any private company/NGOs proposing to conduct HBsAg and HCV testing and Hep-B vaccination drive “are not to be entertained”. The Principal Director, Dr. L. Watikala stated this notification has been issued on the ground that the department is unaware of the issues pertaining to: the safety and potency of the vaccine; cold chain set up and maintenance; management of AEFI (Adverse Event Following Immunization); and human resources to be utilized. Such activities can be permitted only after obtaining a "No Objection Order" from the Principal Director, the notification said. One apprehended for burglary Kohima, September 21 (MExN): One person has been apprehended for burglary in the office of the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Kohima on September 20 around 1:30 am. The accused identified as Sato Lohe (35) was apprehended by the police personnel deployed for security of the office premises, informed a press release from PRO, Kohima Police. The accused, according to the release, had sneaked into the office by removing the window grills. He further managed to gain access by damaging two of the doors. All the stolen articles such as office stationery and cooking utensils were recovered and handed over to the Department on zimma, the release added. In this connection, a case vide Kohima North PS Case No. 0070/16 U/S 380 IPC has been registered against the arrested person for conducting further police investigation. First shoulder joint replacement surgery in govt hospital Kohima, September 21 (MExN): The first shoulder joint replacement surgery in a government hospital in Nagaland was successfully done at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on September 21 by a team of orthopaedic surgeons at the hospital. Dr. Gwalozu Thong informed that the operation was carried out on a 40-year-old policeman who had an accident last year and broke the head of his humerus (arm bone). Initial operation to retain the broken head of the bone failed, so this time the head was replaced by a prosthesis ordered from Delhi, according to a press release. The team of surgeons comprised of Dr. Rokoleibi Khate, Dr. Gwalozu Thong, Dr. Kehousetuo Koutsu, and Dr. Neilakuo Kire. Dr. Tiakala Walling was the anaesthetist for the operation. Home department notifies Kohima, September 21 (DIPR): The Home Department in a notification has informed that Neposo Thelou, Additional Secretary, School Education Department has been assigned to head the committee for physical verification of the proposed new villages for recognition under Wokha district. Subsequently, Senti Ao, Secretary, DUDA has been relieved from the assignment for physical verification in Wokha district on humanitarian ground as requested. Lancer Club Library Hall inaugurated in Wokha Wokha, September 21 (MExN): The Lancer Club Library Hall, Wokha was inaugurated on September 12. The library hall was funded by the District Rural Development Agency, Wokha under BRGF, stated a press release. The president of the Club in his address highlighted a brief history of the club and thanked the Project Director, DRDA Wokha and its staff for inclusion of the library hall construction, Department of Art & Culture for the yearly books and Dr. Temsula Ao for contributing all her works, including her 2013 Sahitya Akademi Award winning book “Laburnum for My Head”. Mission Kala Utsav Competition in Tsg Tuensang, September 21 (DIPR): The District Level Mission Kala Utsav Competition 2016 was held at GHSS Tuensang auditorium on September 21.
