Training on Community First Responder in Phek underway Phek, October 5 (DIPR): Training of Trainers on Community First Responder commenced in Phek on October 3. The training, which will continue till October 7, is being organized by the District Disaster Management Authority, Phek in collaboration with CD&HG, H&FW & SDRF and supported by Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority. In the opening remarks, the Deputy Commissioner of Phek, who is also Chairman DDMA, Murohu Chotso, said that we need such programmes to keep ourselves alert as disasters may occur any time. While thanking the good efforts of the government in advocating public’s safety, he also dwelt on climate change and its effects on the environment. The function was chaired by SDO (C) Phek, Nukutulu S. Venuh, while a briefing of the training was given by Redemo Shitio, State Emergency Response Officer, NSDMA. AR assault case in Pfutsero settled Pfutsero, October 5 (MExN): Pfutsero Town Committee Welfare Forum (PTCWF) has amicably resolved the matter regarding the September 16 incident at Reku Colony, Pfutsero Town, where a jawan of 9 Assam Rifles, D Coy, Pfutsero allegedly assaulted a Government Hindi Teacher, according to a press release. The matter was settled in good faith and spirit for the peaceful co-existence and welfare of the people, stated the release issued by PTCWF Convenor, Murhasayi Murho. The Forum looked forward to “full and unconditional support and co-operation” of the security forces towards the public in the future. Seminar on empowerment of youths and women Nsong, October 5 (DIPR): A special outreach programme and seminar on empowerment of youths and women through skill development for sustainable livelihoods was held at Nsong Town on September 30, organised by the Southern Zeme Organisation, Kohima and sponsored by the Directorate of Field Publicity Regional Office Kohima, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. During the formal programme, Dr. Engam Pame IIS, Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Regional Office Kohima, stressed on the need to have leadership qualities to sustain our life. Dr. Zieleigai Ndang, SDEO Tening and Amos Pauzerang Newme, District Coordinator NERP Peren, who were the resource persons dwelt on the topics ‘Agricultural (organic) Farming and its Marketing Scope’ and ‘Activities for Improvement of Rural Livelihoods’ respectively. Interaction with the resource persons were held after each session. Training & demo at Hozukhe village Dimapur, October 5 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur Niuland Block conducted training and demonstrations at Hozukhe village on October 1. Resource person Sentibenla, ATM, Niuland Block spoke on ‘Application of micronutrients in vegetable crops.’ Longshithung, AFA, Department of Agriculture spoke on ‘Application of Trichogramma in paddy fields.’ The programme was chaired by Demalu Hasnusa, BTM, Niuland block where trichocards were distributed to the 31 farmers present. Training on disaster management Phek, October 5 (DIPR): The Department of Home Guards & Civil Defence (HG&CD), Phek conducted an awareness training on disaster management at Govt. High School Phek Village on October 1. The Home Guards & Civil Defence personnel were led by the Deputy Controller, Civil Defence & District Commandant, Home Guards, Hukuto Yeptho. Demonstration on search and rescue and techniques were displayed and practical training was also imparted. Disaster management booklets of do’s and don’ts during earthquake, fire and landslide were also distributed during the programme.
