Lockdown blues have started to hit sports fans all over the world, and nostalgia seems to be the only game on air.
However, for some fans, the pandemic has brought them closer to the clubs they love.

Bozio Nienu is a diehard fan of FC Bayern Munchen from Nagaland, whose woodwork caught the attention of the German Football League- Bundesliga.

“They say Nagaland takes its football pretty seriously. The lockdown has deprived the locals of LIVE football, but they aren’t letting that defeat their spirit,” a Bundesliga Official Facebook account post read on May 12.

During the lockdown, Bozio, a musician from Kohima, decided to pay tribute to the club that has a special place in his heart. He worked hard on a plank of wood for to carve out the logo of his favourite football club, FC Bayern München.

For Bozio, this was a second attempt at carving the logo. “Four years ago, I tried to make the same woodwork, but it did not turn out that good,” Bozio told The Morung Express on Thursday. Woodwork has been his hobby for years, but the lockdown gave him more time to reconnect with it, he shared.

“During the lockdown I got enough time to work on it and I decided to go ahead with it,” he said.

“It took me 3 days to do this woodwork and I’m proud of it like I’m proud of the club. #MiaSanMia,” Bozio shared on his social media accounts.

The photos were shared on Bundesliga’s official Facebook account along with the note of appreciation.

“Truly a testament to his love and passion for FC Bayern München, and there's nothing we love more than a heartfelt gesture from an ardent fan,” the post further read.

“This means sooo much to me! Thank you so much! Glad my story’s out there,” an overwhelmed Bozio commented on the post.

While Bayern Munich haven’t reached out to Bozio yet, fans surely took notice and by May 14, the Facebook post had gained 1.2K likes and was shared 79 times.

The Bundesliga makes its return on May 16, becoming the first major league across Europe to attempt a restart.  Bozio is excited as any fan would be. “It is a big deal for football fans and especially for me. I cannot wait to watch my team play this weekend,” he shared.

Bayern Munich leads the division by four points, and will resume their title defense on Sunday.
