Lions Club of Dimapur celebrated their annual Diwali Mela on October 27 under the Chairperson, Sumit Jaiswal. The Mela was attended by more than 1500 people from different communities, stated a press release. Lions Club of Dimapur, President Ankit Jain highlighted the importance of the Mela as a fund raising event which helps the club to serve the society yearlong with different social activities like free eye screening & cataract operations, lions health centre, community club to name a few. Club Secretary, Rohit Jain emphasised on the importance of not inviting any chief guest for the programme as “hailing all the society people as their chief guests without whose contributions the Club cannot function as they wish to.”
ICAR–NRC on Mithun, Medziphema, Nagaland, in collaboration with ICAR-NDRI, ERS, Kalyani, organized a one-day Collaborative Training cum Input Distribution Programme on “Scientific Goat Farming for Scheduled Caste Farmers” at Rupmari/Baylani village, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal on October 28. Over 150 farmers attended, benefiting from training sessions led by Scientists Dr Ajay Mondal (SCSP Nodal Officer), Dr C Bhakat, Dr M Karunakaran, and Dr SK Das of ICAR-NDRI ERS, Kalyani, along with Dr Narendra VN (SCSP Nodal Officer) and Dr Yallappa M Somagond from ICAR-NRC on Mithun. Under the SCSP scheme, 85 female goats were distributed to selected farmers, alongside a vaccination and ear-tagging camp to ensure herd health and traceability. Immanuel College, Dimapur commemorated National Unity Day to honour the legacy of the Iron Man of India under the initiative of its IQAC at the college auditorium on October 30. The programme was led by the IQAC Co-ordinator Nengpilhing. Immanuel College, Principal Th Sharatchandra Singh in his speech highlighted a brief overview of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's life and his architectural role in India's consolidation. He stated that education is the medium through which civilisations renewed and passes on to the coming generation and as long as education system is intact, there is hope in the society. The programme concluded with a pledge led by the Principal.The Nagaland Assemblies of God Children’s Ministry (NAGCM) has completed its biennial Kids' Fest with the theme ‘On Track with Jesus’ at AG Church Chukitong, Wokha from October 25-27. The event gathered 252 delegates, including Sunday school children and teachers, for a vibrant celebration of faith, learning, and fellowship. The fest featured a variety of engaging activities, including competitions in various categories of Singing, Bible skits, Bible recitation, and Choreography. The programme guest speakers were Rev Moses Murry, General Superintendent of AGEI, Esther Murry, President, Women Ministry AGEI, and Vithezielie Chüpuo, Coordinator, NAGC Men’s Department.A mini exhibition on the theme ‘Fall Flowers & Greens ’ was organised by the Floriculture Unit of Phek Government College on October 28 with an aim to promote and impart importance of floriculture amongst the students. The different varieties of fall flowering plants displayed were chrysanthemum, blanket flower, rose and poinsettia. Besides, other categories of plants on display were the greens, indoor plants and dry flowers. Students from GHSS, Phek also joined the exhibition to fulfill their requirement of providing skills Education in their curriculum as per their MoU with Laqsh job skills academy Pvt. Ltd.Mission Tour team of 12 members from Police Baptist Church Kiphire visited Mekhowchu Naga Village of Myanmar from October 18 to 21 as Mission Board beyond Regions, led by Y Imnatoshi, Mission Convenor PBCK, K Ramji Chaplain PSBF Pungro and T Yangkhumse Pastor PBCK. Rongmei Council Nagaland (RCN) held its general conference, with delegates from Kohima, Peren, Chümoukedima, and Dimapur districts at Lifespring Corner on October 25. The event was graced by G Namgai, former president of Rongmei Naga People’s Organization (RNPO) as the chief host. During the conference, the new team for RCN for the tenure 2024-2027 was elected with President: Akhu Gangmei; Vice President: Hunimang Pamei; General Secretary: GK Alphonse; Joint Secretary: Denis Kamei. Outgoing President, Chingkhiulung Gonmei, addressed the gathering, expressing his gratitude to the council members and acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the team during his tenure. Kidongam Panmei, the outgoing General Secretary, presented the Secretary's Report. The newly elected team pledged to continue their commitment to the growth and welfare of the Rongmei community in Nagaland, a press release added. The Department of Social Work at St Joseph University (SJU) in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) organised a lecture on ‘Mental Health: A Priority’ in the university's seminar hall on October 29. The resource person, Kilentola Jamir, a mentor and facilitator specializing in Professional & Personality Development and a holistic counsellor, provided an in-depth overview of mental health, emphasizing its critical role in overall wellbeing. She urged students to take on the responsibility of contributing to the holistic development and mental health of those around them. Jamir highlighted the importance of transforming societal attitudes towards mental health, calling for proactive engagement in promoting mental wellness.
