NF Railway enhances safety measures for passengers

Maligaon, September 20 (MExN): The NF Railway is prioritizing the safety and well-being of its passengers by modernizing and upgrading its infrastructure to meet the highest standards of safety and convenience.

As part of this modernization effort initiated by Indian Railways, N.F. Railway has begun converting its conventional ICF coaches to modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches across its routes.

These LHB coaches are equipped with advanced technical systems, including Fire and Smoke Detection Systems (FSDS), Fire Detection and Suppression Systems (FDSS), and an aerosol-based fire detection system. Currently, 62 pairs of trains operated by N.F. Railway feature LHB coaches, which are known for their anti-collision technology that significantly reduces fatalities during accidents. Additionally, each coach is fitted with an "Advanced Pneumatic Disc Brake System," ensuring efficient braking even at higher speeds.

In total, 1,060 LHB AC coaches are outfitted with FSDS, along with 153 power cars and 68 pantry cars equipped with FDSS. Moreover, 267 AC coaches are being enhanced with the aerosol-based fire detection system. These fire detection systems monitor specific locations within train coaches to swiftly address any fire incidents, enabling early alarms that can prevent panic, injuries, and loss of life and property.

To further bolster fire safety, all power cars, pantry cars, and AC coaches are being systematically equipped with suitable fire safety measures in phases. The ongoing improvement of rail safety is a continuous process, with regular safety drives, audits, and inspections being conducted to identify and address weaknesses in asset maintenance and safety protocols.
