NFHRCC reminds Nagaland Govt to prioritise foothills project; plans joint inspection

Dimapur, May 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has reminded the State Government of the Assembly Resolution regarding the long-delayed foothills road project.

A joint stakeholders meeting on May 13, accordingly, resolved to reiterate the appeal to the State Government for inclusion of project in the "Priority List" for funding under the North Eastern Council in the the current financial year (2023-24).

This is in accordance to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly resolutions adopted on September 22, 2022 and further reaffirmed during the First Session of the 14th NLA in March 2023, stated a press release from the Committee.

Officials from PWD (Roads & Bridges), foothills road project contractors, Dimapur-based tribal bodies, and NFHRCC members attended the meeting.

The NFHRCC also decided to conduct a joint inspection tour of the foothills road from Niuland to Tizit with PWD (Roads & Bridges) officials, contractors, tribal bodies, and NFHRCC members to ascertain the technical completion of the work and recommend performance-based release of the remaining bills before the onset of the rainy season.

Furthermore, the committee emphasised the importance of maintaining the "cohesiveness and sanctity" of the NFHRCC "as a pressure group" endorsed by the apex tribal hohos in 2013.

In this connection, it also cautioned against any individual or group undermining or questioning the authenticity of the NFHRCC and stated that appropriate correctional measures would be taken against those resorting to such action.
