The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has issued an appeal to churches across the state to dedicate time for prayer on Sunday, April 27, 2025, seeking divine guidance and success for the ongoing construction of the Nagaland Foothills Road—also known as the Trans Nagaland Expressway.

In a statement issued by its Media Cell, the NFHRCC described the request as a “clarion call to all believers in the state” to “kindly take a few minutes of your tearful time” to pray for the timely and judicious completion of the much-anticipated road project.

The 1st phase of the Trans Nagaland Expressway is already underway and aims to link Tizit in Mon District to Khelma in Peren District, spanning a distance of approximately 395 kilometers.

“We urge all believers to uphold this critical infrastructure initiative in prayer,” the NFHRCC stated, emphasizing the road’s importance to the socioeconomic development of Nagaland.

The Committee also called for prayers for “all stakeholders including the lawmakers, the CSOs in general and the land donors in particular,” appealing for “more wisdom for an inclusive welfare for the people of Nagaland.”

The Foothills Road, a long-standing demand and vision of the people of Nagaland, is expected to serve as an alternative route cutting across the foothill region and easing transport and connectivity challenges within the state. The NFHRCC has spearheaded advocacy for the project for over a decade, coordinating with various civil society organizations, landowners, and successive governments.

While the Committee continues to engage with the state government on administrative and logistical challenges related to the project, it said the April 27 prayer observance represents a collective spiritual commitment to its completion.

The release concluded by reaffirming the NFHRCC’s belief in the power of faith and unity, urging every congregation across denominations to participate in the statewide prayer.
