NFR introduces virtual and mixed reality training for staff

Maligaon, September 2 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has launched a cutting-edge Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality (VR & MR) training module at its Multi-Disciplinary Zonal Training Institute (MDZTI) in Alipurduar. This new training initiative aims to enhance the safety and operational knowledge of railway staff involved in train operations.

The VR & MR module is designed for all running and safety staff, providing them with immersive, hands-on experience through headsets and joysticks. This advanced training tool replaces the traditional two-phase approach, which included both theoretical classroom instruction and practical sessions. The new system offers real-time simulations and comprehensive tutorials, allowing trainees to experience various scenarios and improve their response to standard parameters in actual situations. So far, the VR & MR training has been successfully administered to 2,020 staff members, including 516 Station Managers, 372 Train Managers, 555 Loco Pilots, 550 Assistant Loco Pilots, and 27 Junior/Senior Engineers of P. Way.
