
Maligaon, November 16 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has shown growth in its earnings from passenger traffic and other coaching services in the month of October compared to the same month last year. The cumulative earnings from goods traffic till the month of October has also recorded increase over the same period last year, stated a press release from Subhanan Chanda, NFR Chief Public Relations Officer.
While Rs 110.64 crore were earned from passenger traffic in the month of October this year compared to the earning of Rs 106.24 crore on the same account in October last year, Rs. 21.63 crore was earned from Other Coaching compared to Rs. 15.14 crore earned in October last year.
The cumulative earnings from Passenger Traffic till October this year was Rs. 809.48 crore compared to Rs. 782.35 crore till October last year recording an increase of 3.47%.
The cumulative earnings from Other Coaching till October this year was Rs. 132.94 crore compared to Rs. 119.50 crore till October last year recording an increase of 11.25%. The cumulative earnings from Goods Traffic till October this year was Rs. 1054 crore compared to Rs. 1006.74 crore till October last year recording an increase of 4.69%.
The release added earnings from goods traffic was expected to increase with steps taken by NFR to improve customer interface for goods transportation – Gumto IOCL siding under Rangiya Division was opened from October 29 for handling of inward POL traffic, Katihar and Purnea Junction under Katihar Division have been opened for rakes from two originating terminals for outward loading of Maize traffic up to March 31, 2020, Jalalgarh Station under Katihar Division has been opened for handling of inward Coal traffic for a period of six months on experimental basis w.e.f. October 24.
Udaipur Station under Lumding Division has been opened for handling of all inward Goods traffic except Coal, POL, Livestock, Explosive and Crane consignment until further order w.e.f. October 24.
Surjakamal Station under Katihar Division has been opened for inward booking of all Goods traffic except Coal, POL, Livestock, Explosive and Crane consignment until further order w.e.f. October 30.
