NFR to run three Kisan Rail trains to Agartala

Guwahati, March 20 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to run three Kisan Rail trains to Agartala for transportation of potatoes during this month for the benefit of the farmers and transporters, an official release informed. 

The trains include one from Falakata to Agartala; one from Dhupguri to Agartala and another from Chengrabandha to Agartala, a press release from NFR CPRO said. 

All the trains have stoppages in Dimapur as per the schedules given by the NFR. 

Indian Railways has started running Kisan Rail train services, to transport perishables and agri-product, including milk, meat and fish as per an announcement made in the Union Budget 2020-21, the release said. 

Kisan Rails are multi-commodity, multi-consignor/consignee, multi-loading/unloading transportation solution aimed at providing wider market to farmers, it said. 

Commodities which may be transported via Kisan Rail are Tea, Rubber, Turmeric, Black pepper, Mustard, Soyabin, Betel nut, Oranges, Pineapple, Ginger, Kiwi, Passion fruit, Chillies (green), Large Cardamom and other fruits & vegetables, it added.  

A subsidy of 50% is being granted on the transportation of fruits and vegetables via Kisan Rail.
