NH-02 in Mkg is becoming a commuter hazard

MOKOKCHUNG, JULY 27 (MExN): The Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) has flagged the slow pace of work, and the connected commuter hazard, on National-02, in Mokokchung. The LKM wrote to the Nagaland state government, through the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, on July 26, highlighting the current state of the road, specifically between 185.00 km to 220.00 km.

It raised concern over the ongoing construction, on the said stretch, being undertaken by KKB Rülho Construction Company, stating that there has been a lack of progress in the construction work.

According to it, the current state of the road has been the cause of frequent vehicle breakdowns and accidents. “This negligence in road maintenance has caused grave concerns for the safety of the commuters,” it said. It urged the administration to intervene and address the issue “promptly” by July 30, 2024. Failure to address the issue by the said date, the LKM said that it will be compelled “to take necessary actions, until the situation improves.”

It added, “We expect significant progress in the construction work…Your swift attention to this matter is crucial to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.”
