Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): The National Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Programme (NIDDCP), Wokha observed the Global IDD Prevention Day on October 31 in Old Ralan, Wokha.
District NIDDCP Nodal Officer, Dr. N. Mhonchan Kithan and Rosaline Jungio, BAC Wokha Sadar highlighted on the theme ‘Eliminate Iodine deficiency disorder and consume only iodised salt.’
Thungchanbeni of BAC Chukitong Block; Lireni BAC of Sanis Block; and Tsenchanbeni of BAC Bhandari (block-II) also performed demonstrations of salt analysis during the week long health education activities.
The programme was chaired by Gloria Kithan, BAC Wozhuro/Ralan Block, invocation and vote of thanks were pronounced and delivered by Loreni, Wochan Village ASHA and Liyani, Pharmacist, Tontongo Village Sub Centre respectively.
The Nodal Officer in a press note informed that essay and painting competition based on the theme were also organized for students.
Ireland Y Murry, Class 9 of DBHSS Bhandari Town and Phyobemo, Class 9 of GHSS Chukitong secured first and second respectively in essay writing, while in painting competition, Renchamo, Class 6 of GMS Ralan Old and R Thungchamo Enny, Class 9 of GHS Baghty secured first and second positions.
The winners and participants were given certificates and prizes, it added.
