Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The Nihokhu Village Council (NVC) and the public of Nihokhu Village today resolved to restrict the entry of heavy vehicles carrying sand gravels, boulders, logs etc within the village jurisdiction till such time the road is repaired to the desired extent.
Chairman, Nihokhu Village Council Akavi Zhimomi in a press release stated this was resolved “in exercise of our rights, to have a safe and good condition road.”
Despite the appraisal of the frontal organizations and the student's union of the area to the concerned authority on the pathetic road conditions and necessity for repair of the same, “till date nothing has materialized,” it added.
The release maintained that the road condition from 4th mile, Dimapur to the village jurisdiction was further deteriorating, posing health hazards and threat to life to the commuters as well as the denizens of the village.
The entry of heavy vehicles within the village jurisdiction shall remain restricted with effect from September 6, until such time the village authority may decide, it added.
